LET US INTRODUCE YOU TO THE PLUM ANGEL FUND Jeans, comfortable shoes and the opportunity to make a positive impact… Why not? I n the often “buttoned-up” world of government, casual Fridays have become desirable days where Boro personnel welcome the opportunity to dress down. Thanks to our team of generous employees, Plum Borough Administrative Staff started a tradition to help those in need while dressing casually. Donations are collected from Boro Staff in exchange for “Casual Fridays”, this money is saved throughout the year to help provide for needy Plum families at Christmas. In our efforts, to help more families during the holiday season, donations were also accepted at FallFest for the pony rides and at the carriage ride during Christmas at Plum Creek. A big thank you to the Plum Area Youth Soccer Association who recently heard about the Angel Fund and donated as well. If you would like to donate to help Plum families in need, contact events@ plumboro.com Early in the holiday season, we work with the Plum School District to obtain a wish list from families of students who are going through a financially difficult time. Staff members then shop to make holiday wishes come true for these angels. For one afternoon, our conference room turns into the North Pole, where busy elves wrap, tag and ribbon the gifts! Not only does the Plum Angel Fund help those in need, it encourages team spirit at the workplace leading to motivation and productivity. Since the start of the Casual Friday program in 2011, we have donated $7,545 to these Plum Angels and their families. Our staff is excited to be able to give back to our community and enjoy Casual Fridays. We hope visitors to the Boro Building don’t mind these dress-down days as they are for a good cause!
