School Bus Safety
The Plum Police Department reminds motorists to obey school bus safety laws and remain alert near bus stops. Drivers must stop when a school bus displays flashing red lights and an extended stop arm, allowing students to safely board or exit.
Distracted driving and speeding near school zones continue to be major safety concerns. The Plum Police Department encourages drivers to slow down, eliminate distractions, and watch carefully for children crossing streets.
Safety experts emphasize that protecting students is a shared responsibility. By following traffic laws and staying aware, drivers can help ensure every child reaches school and returns home safely.
Deer Removal on Roadways
When a deer is struck by a vehicle, it can create a safety hazard for motorists and obstruct traffic. To help keep roadways safe and clear, Plum Borough coordinates the removal with Big Daddy Wildlife.

To report an injured or deceased deer on the roadway or the side of road please call 412-795-6800 x 4302.
If a deer needs to be limed due to its condition, Big Daddy Wildlife will lime the deer to help speed up its breakdown and reduce odor, and the deer will not be removed.
Please note that this service is limited to deceased deer only.
Deer located on private property are the responsibility of the property owner and are not covered under this program.
