Students Named National Merit Scholars
Four Pine-Richland High School students are being named semifinalists in the 2020 National Merit Scholarship program. They
include seniors Daniel Krill, Aidan Meyer, Gina Sabol and Justin Waltrip. These seniors were among 16,000 students, who were named
semifinalists in the 65th Annual National Merit Scholarship Program. About 90 percent of the semifinalists are expected to attain finalist
standing and about half of the finalists will win a National Merit Scholarship.
These semifinalists are being recognized for their outstanding work on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying
Test (PSAT/NMSQT). The College Board and National Merit Scholarship Corporation cosponsor this standardized test, which is often
administered during a student’s sophomore year and sometimes during a student’s freshman or junior year.
Seniors Jack Carnovale, Max Farino, Kang-Young Kim, Valerie Koester, Nathan Lukez, Olivia McGeary and Aidan Pavlick were named
commended students.
