Pine-Richland High School Teacher Honored
Pine-Richland High School teacher Michelle Bruno was honored with Pittsburgh Public Theater’ s prestigious Rob Zellers Award for Excellence in Arts Education on February 24 during the Pittsburgh Public Theater’ s Shakespeare Showcase of Finalists. This award is presented annually to honor a teacher who passionately provides quality arts education experiences for their students. Mrs. Bruno, who teaches acting, directing and English, was selected for her unwavering commitment to inspiring students and cultivating creativity and artistic expression within the Pine-Richland community. Two of Mrs. Bruno’ s students, seniors John Folino and Jillian Uzelac, won Best Scene in the Pittsburgh Public Theater’ s Shakespeare Showcase of Finalists for their scene from Taming of the Shrew.
Students Selected to Perform at the PMEA Annual Conference
Five Pine-Richland students have been selected to perform at the PMEA Annual Conference in April. Senior Thomas Devito( first chair trumpet) and junior Ashley Casale( flute) have advanced to PMEA All-State Band; junior Ryan Noir( first chair clarinet) has advanced to PMEA All-State Orchestra, and seniors Mackenzie Mercuri and Sophia Priore have advanced to PMEA All-State Choir.

PIAA Swim Championships
Several members of the Girls’ Swim team advanced to the PIAA Swim Championships, including seniors Sarah Anne Shaffer and Anna Schomaker, juniors Riley Shafer and Teagan Yurocko, sophomores Bree Arthur, Brooke Rupert and Alli Schomaker, and ninth-grader Whitney Calhoun. Sarah Anne earned the bronze medal in the 100.

2025 National History Day in Pennsylvania State Competition
Four Pine-Richland High School sophomores were selected to advance to the 2025 National History Day in Pennsylvania state competition. Caroline Prisk, Bianka Roman, Ella Trygar and Janya Ullal will compete on April 12 and 13 at the University of Scranton. They were selected based on the success of their second-place senior division entry, Olympe De Gouges: Declaration of Humanities, in the National History Day Pittsburgh 2025 competition at the Heinz History Center on March 15-16.
Rich-Mar Rotary Students of the Month
Seniors Tiffany Gathers, Noah Mackie and Mackenzie Mercuri were recognized as Students of the Month by Rich-Mar Rotary in February for academic achievement and service.
