National Merit Scholarship Program
Seniors Sean Burk, Thomas DeVito, Tim Peng, Charlie Ozelski and Heath Cwynar have advanced to the finalist stage in the National Merit Scholarship program. They rank in the top 15,000 out of more than 1.5 million students based on academics, extracurricular achievement, leadership, and essays. They are now eligible to compete for thousands of dollars in National Merit Scholarships.

Mock Trial
Pine-Richland High School’ s Mock Trial team advanced to the PBA Young Lawyer Division High School Mock Trial State Championship March 28-29. The team includes seniors JoJo Barbiaux, Ian Hurt, Nedda Immen, Anna Karmanos, Eliza Lazzaro, June McCune, Ava Muster, Will Tamburri and Jillian Uzelac, and juniors Sanika Das, Brooke Deegan and Deeya Nayyar.

Three Pine-Richland juniors were inducted into A. W. Beattie’ s chapter of the National Technical Honor Society on March 4: Julia Kirkbride, early childhood education; Joey Mascarenas, carpentry; and Ruby Hall, health and nursing sciences.

Family, Career and Community Leaders of America State Championship
Four Pine-Richland A. W. Beattie students placed at the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America state championship March 31-April 2: junior Reid Carter, bronze in the public policy advocate category; junior Cayden Cutone, gold in job interview; senior Jessica Bui, gold in culinary arts; and senior Charlie Jackson, silver in cake decorating.
Scholastic Art & Writing Awards
Twenty-one Pine-Richland High School art students recently won 33 awards in the regional Scholastic Art & Writing Awards competition, including four Gold Key Awards and 11 Silver Key Awards. Jimena Belda, Amelia Hackel, Charlie Ozelski and Benjamin Santiago received Gold Key Awards. Gold Key winners move on to national judging. Silver Key Award winners include Megan Black( 2), John Folino, Cadence Foote, Amelia Hackel, Serafina Julio, Kaylee Koch, Kiera Moskala, Erin Murray, Charlie Ozelski and Brooklyn Ramirez. In addition to earning a Gold Key Award, Charlie Ozelski is an American Visions nominee, the program’ s Best in Show award.
