Richland Elementary Named Title I
Distinguished School
The Pennsylvania Department of Education’s Division of Federal Programs
is honoring Richland Elementary School for being named a Title I Distinguished
School for 2015-2016. This marks the fourth consecutive year that Richland
Elementary School has earned this prestigious recognition.
Richland Elementary received the honor because it ranked in the top five
percent of Title I Schools in Pennsylvania based on aggregate math and English
language arts scores on the PSSA. Richland is one of approximately 1,800
schools in PA that qualify for Title I funding. Principal Gene Nicastro attributes
the continued success to the supportive families in the community, attentive
students, and a focused and determined staff who strives to meet students’ needs.
“The staff is focused on learning, and we utilize a system of data analysis and
