Pine-Richland High School students raised over $ 30,000 for pediatric cancer through their genestok rotarygene Mini- Thon program this year. Mini-Thon is a student-led club dedicated to raising funds for pediatric cancer through the Four Diamonds Foundation. All proceeds support treatment and cancer research.
Pine-Richland celebrated the commencement of 374 seniors on Saturday, June 7. The ceremony included a performance of the Pine-Richland Alma Mater by senior choir members followed by introductory remarks from Dr. Frank Hernandez, principal of Pine- Richland High School. Class tertiary Heath Cwynar, salutatorian Aris Kralios, and valedictorian Timothy Peng reflected on their experiences at Pine-Richland and talked about the importance of community and their hopes for the Class of 2025. Seven additional students spoke, offering reflection and advice, demonstrating vulnerability, personal growth, resiliency, engagement, and diversity in academic paths and extra-curricular activities, a true representation of Pine-Richland’ s mission, vision and values.
Gene Kelly Awards for 42nd Street Pine-Richland High School’ s production of 42nd Street earned two Gene Kelly Awards on May 24: Outstanding Student Orchestra and Outstanding Dance Ensemble. The musical also earned four nominations, including Outstanding Actress( Anna Karmanos for Dorothy Brock), Outstanding Actor( Vaughn Spencer for Julian Marsh), Outstanding Supporting Actress( Sophia Priore for Maggie Jones) and Outstanding Vocal Ensemble.

9th Annual Color Run / Walk Pine-Richland High School’ s Peer2Peer Club held its 9th annual Color Run / Walk on May 18, raising funds for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and future club projects, field trips and activities.
Band Together Pittsburgh
Pine-Richland School District partnered with Band Together Pittsburgh on May 17 to host an inclusive open mic event at Pine- Richland High School. Performers of all ages and abilities sang or played instruments, including keyboard, drums and the marimba. Band Together Pittsburgh believes that music has the power to unify the world and uses music to inspire and enrich the lives of those on the autism spectrum, enabling integration with family, friends and society as a whole.
Allegheny County American Legion Award for Academic Achievement Seniors Ava Means and Jack Salvatore were named recipients of the Allegheny County American Legion Award for Academic Achievement. Awards are presented to high school seniors for excellence in academics, athletics and music. Students must have a 4.0 minimum GPA to be eligible. Ava and Jack were nominated by their teacher Michelle Bruno and formally recognized at the Allegheny County American Legion Awards Dinner on April 13.
