LEAF VACUUMING
LEAF COLLECTION SCHEDULE: FALL 2026
Yard and leaf waste must always be placed in your garbage container. Yard and leaf waste bags outside your container will NOT be taken. The exception is leaf waste may be placed out in paper leaf / lawn bags curbside during the five-week Fall Leaf Bag Collection only.
The Fall Leaf Bag Collection weeks for 2026 are: Week 1: October 26th- October 29th Week 2: November 2nd- November 5th Week 3: November 9th- November 12th Week 4: November 16th- November 19th No Pickup the Week of Thanksgiving Week 5: November 30th- December 3rd
During this five-week collection period:
• Paper leaf bags left outside your garbage container will be collected by Waste Management.
• Leaves must be in paper leaf / lawn bags.
• Leaf bags must be curbside by 6:00 a. m. on your scheduled garbage day.
While pickup will occur on your scheduled garbage day, a separate WM truck will pick up leaf bags. They will not be picked up as part of the garbage or recycling collection.
IMPORTANT: Leaf bags placed outside your container before October 26th or after December 3rd will NOT be taken.

Pennsylvania’ s leaf recycling law requires residents in communities with populations over 5,000 to recycle – not burn – leaves and yard waste. Burning of leaves is strictly prohibited in Peters Township.
Apply for residential and commercial permits online through the Peters Township permit portal accessible on peterstownship. com under Permit Applications. Set up an account through SDLPortal, complete the relevant application, upload documents, and submit. Use the permit portal to track permit applications, upload additional documents, and schedule inspections. The time frame for approval of the permit and applicable fees vary based on the type of structure and construction project.
LEAF VACUUMING
As an alternate means of helping residents get rid of their annual leaf waste, Peters Township offers a leaf vacuuming season pass for a fee of $ 150. Residents interested in the program should contact the Peters Township Municipal Building at 724.941.4180 for more information on how to purchase a leaf vacuuming season pass. The season pass covers weekly leaf vacuuming for six weeks during the fall season. The fee cannot be prorated.
