CHRISTMAS IN THE
VILLAGE OF VENETIA
Come celebrate the spirit of Christmas in
the historic Village of Venetia, located at the
700 block of Venetia Road, on Friday, Dec.
2 from 6 to 9 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 3 from 9
a.m. to 2 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 4 from noon
to 5 p.m. Create new family traditions with
activities that range from colonial to country,
and enjoy the merchants and organizations of
an original settlement of Peters Township.
The event will begin on Friday evening
with the lighting of the 40-foot Village Tree, in
addition to caroling and campfires at the historic
Wrights United Methodist Church. Saturday’s
events begin with Santa’s Breakfast Workshop
where children can make a special gift for mom
and dad this season, and Sunday will host
the traditional Soup and Stroll fundraiser at
the Colonial Wright House and Museum of
Western Expansion, sponsored by the Peters
Creek Historical society. The DARE model train
display, food and funnel cakes, and the Touring
Red Bird Mission Appalachian Craft Show
from Beverly, Kentucky will also be available
throughout the weekend.
Adding to the festivities this year is the 90th
anniversary of the Venetia School building. Its
teachers, students and staff were the foundation
of Village events up until its closing in 1993.
Come and begin the season with sharing, caring,
music, food and fun for all ages. For more
