LUNCH & LEARN: HOW TO READ A PAINTING Monday, June 9, 11 a. m. to 1 p. m. Have you ever looked at a painting and wished you could understand it more? This lecture serves as a guide to basic visual analysis. We will review some of the more common symbols and tropes seen in Western painting. Lunch will be served following a presentation by art educator and historian Mallory Mortillaro. Mallory will join us virtually from her home in New Jersey.
ATTRACTING BENEFICIAL INSECTS TO YOUR GARDEN Wednesday, June 11, 6 to 7 p. m. Insects play an important role in protecting and pollinating plants. Learn how to attract beneficial insects to your garden in this presentation with Penn State Extension Washington County Master Gardeners.
WATER CONSERVATION IN THE GARDEN Tuesday, July 8, 6 to 7 p. m. Come learn ways to beat the heat and reduce water consumption in the garden with Dr. Candy DeBerry. Dr. DeBerry will join us in person at the library.
LEARN & LUNCH: MAMMAL IDENTIFICATION Friday, July 18, 11:30 a. m. to 1:30 p. m. Lunch will be served, following a presentation by Master Naturalist and Environmental Educator Char Ross where you will become a wildlife detective and identify mystery skulls! Learn about physical characteristics that help you determine whether an animal lived as predator, prey, or both. This is a great intro for any budding naturalist or nature lover; participants can utilize what they learn the next time they are on a walk in the woods.

PA DUTCH BARN ART Saturday, July 19, 1 to 3 p. m. Join library staff for a brief presentation about the history of Pennsylvania Dutch Barn art. Afterward, we will be making our own painted wooden barn signs. eters Township

BRUSH RUN CEMETERY STROLL Saturday, June 14, 6:30 to 7:30 p. m. Join us for a historical stroll at Brush Run Cemetery. This walking program will introduce some founding members of the Peters Township community, share historical stories from the archives, and information about cemeteries and tombstones. Please note this walking program is over uneven areas and has elevation changes. Comfortable walking shoes are encouraged.
MONTHLY ADULT CRAFT: YARN ART Wednesday, June 18, 6 to 7:30 p. m. In keeping with this year’ s Summer Reading program theme of“ Color Our World,” we will be making yarn art. Participants will draw their own design, paint, and then cover with yarn. This program is intended for adults with crafting experience.
EMBROIDERY PAINTINGS Monday, June 23, 1 to 2 p. m. Combine classical paintings throughout history with fiber art in this program. Participants will learn basic embroidery stitches and add details to famous paintings printed on paper.
HARMONY IN THE WILD Monday, June 23, 6 to 7:30 p. m. Would you like to make the most of your backyard or garden while embracing the benefits of local wildlife? Learn about commonly encountered animals, what attracts them to our neighborhoods, and how we can enjoy sharing green spaces in meaningful ways. This informational event features natural history items and ethically sourced taxidermy for an up-close look at native species. Recommendations for eco-safe lawn sprays and humane wildlife deterrents will be available!
U. S. HISTORY TRIVIA Tuesday, June 24, 6 to 7 p. m. Join us for popcorn and American Trivia right before the 4th of July! Questions will cover Colonial America to the Modern Era. Casual fans and history buffs are all invited. You can play individually or as a team.
