with different development firms to learn about their visions for different parts of town, and discussing whether it makes sense for Brew: The Museum of Beer to serve as an anchor tenant.” Overall, the creation of the beer museum is a $ 25 to $ 30 million project. In early 2017, the team intends to raise an initial portion of this number to advance the effort by securing a location in addition to building out a blueprint through the hiring of professional consultants who specialize in the creation of destination attractions.
“ The first half of 2017 will involve our initial search for capital,” says Sherwin.“ We’ ll be speaking with strategic investors— groups or individuals with experiences in our core operating areas of food / beverage, real estate and merchandise. We will also be looking to connect with general investors— people who want to partner with the museum because they are excited about the vision and want to be part of a strong community effort that will leave a great legacy in Pittsburgh.”
Brew: The Museum of Beer has kicked-off 2017 on a fun foot, partnering with two local brewers to create its first original beer, which will premier at a special event at Spirit in Lawrenceville on Feb. 17.

“ This endeavor presents a unique opportunity to bring a new point of civic pride to our city,” says Sherwin.“ We are talking about creating a premier Beer Amusement Park, a destination that will be educational, provocative and fun. I would like to think Mr. King and my other mentors would be proud of what we’ re trying to build— a space that will make you think, but have fun while you’ re thinking. It’ s been a great adventure thus far. I’ ve truly enjoyed being a part of the team that pulls together all of the little details that go into creating something new. I’ m excited about bringing something positive to Pittsburgh— the city I’ m from and the city I love.”
