RECYCLING REFRESHER
While the recycling basics remain the same, please note the blue highlighted items below which reflect recent changes and clarifications from Waste Management on plastics and paper cups.
• Recycling is picked up once a week and must be placed curbside by 6:00 AM of your scheduled day.
• Only one Township-issued cart for weekly recycling is included in the regular service.
• Additional recycling cart( s) may be ordered by calling 1-800-866-4460. There is an annually adjusted fee, paid directly to Waste Management, for additional recycling cart( s).
• MATERIALS ACCEPTED IN YOUR RECYCLING CART o Metal: Aluminum cans, bi-metal cans, steel cans, and tin food cans o Plastics: Recycle plastics by shape: bottles, jars, jugs, cups, and tubs o Glass: Bottles & jars; glass bottles and jars can also be recycled curbside at the Glass Recycling Container, located behind Fire Station # 1 at 245 E. McMurray Rd. o Paper Cups o Paper: Magazines, advertising inserts, junk mail, phone books, newspaper, envelopes, catalogs, paperback books, and computer paper. Please remove any metal or plastic spiral binders and plastic covers. No paper envelopes with plastic windows or plastic / bubble wrap lined envelopes.
GARBAGE RULES & REGULATIONS
• The bill for garbage / recycling service is $ 100 per quarter. This bill is paid to Jordan Tax Service.
• Garbage is picked up once a week and must be placed curbside by 6:00 AM of your scheduled day.
• Only one Township-issued cart for weekly garbage is included in the regular service.
• No garbage outside of your Townshipissued cart will be accepted, except for two bulk items per month( first full pickup week of the month). Trash bags / yard waste / large cardboard boxes are not considered bulk items.
• Details on bulk items, including the 2026 bulk item calendar, are listed on our website.
• Residents may obtain an additional garbage cart( s) for an annually adjusted fee directly through Waste Management. This would be in addition to the $ 100 quarterly bill paid to Jordan Tax Service. You must use a Waste Management cart( s) to place out additional garbage. Call 1-800-866-4460 to order additional carts and service.

MISSED PICKUPS & DAMAGED CONTAINERS
• To report a missed garbage and / or recycling pickup, please call the Peters Township Municipal Building at 724-941-4180. A Peters Township staff member will reach out to Waste Management to report the missed collection and instruct Waste Management to send a truck back to service your address. Please let us know ASAP if you believe your address was missed. The sooner we are made aware, the sooner we can correct the issue and have your garbage and recycling picked up. o Cardboard: Cardboard boxes and sheets of cardboard. You may also use the Cardboard Compactor, located behind Fire Station # 1 at 245 E. McMurray Rd. o Paperboard Boxes: Cereal, dry foods, and tissue boxes. Please remove any plastic film and flatten. o o
Paper Towel Rolls Pizza Boxes: Please remove paper and any food waste and flatten.
• MATERIALS NOT ACCEPTED IN YOUR RECYCLING CART o Discard any plastics not in the shapes of bottles, jars, jugs, cups, and tubs. o No Plastic Bags of any kind, including blue bags. Plastic bags can be recycled at your nearest Giant Eagle location. o No Berry Containers & No Clam Shell Containers o No Garbage or Food Waste o No Shredded Paper o No Ceramics o No Styrofoam or Fast Food Wrappers o No Loose Plastic Caps o No Metal Lids o No Aluminum Pie Pans or Aluminum Foil o No Toilet Paper Rolls o No Cartons: Milk, Almond / Soy Milk, Cream, & Orange

• If your garbage or recycling container is damaged( lids, wheels, or body), please call the Peters Township Municipal Building at 724-941-4180, and a staff member will coordinate with Waste Management or Public Works to schedule the repair and / or replacement of the damaged bin.
