STUDENT HIGHLIGHTS

PTHS art students remove their work from the kiln. Students celebrated their Pittsburgh Pride at Pleasant Valley.
RAKU ART AT PETERS TOWNSHIP HIGH SCHOOL
Artists from the Manchester Craftsman ' s Guild visited the High School to assist our ceramics students with Raku firing. Raku is a firing technique where clay is removed from the kiln when glowing hot and placed in a container of combustible materials to produce a reaction that makes beautiful art.
THIRD GRADE MUSICALS
Bower Hill and Pleasant Valley presented their 3rd grade musicals for students and parents. Pleasant Valley celebrated their Pittsburgh pride, and Bower Hill honored their American history. The shows are organized by teachers Bob Tupper and Barb Viola with the help of the third grade teachers.
3RD GRADE SPELLING BEES
Congratulations to our Bower Hill and Pleasant Valley Spelling Bee winners! The annual third grade event sponsored by the McMurray Rotary was a great success with so many talented spellers. Our top 3 spellers at each school received a certificate and a Barnes & Noble Gift Card from the Rotary.

SIMMONS FARM FIELD TRIP
Our second graders at Bower Hill had a great time visiting Simmons Farm for their field trip in May. They got a hands-on look at all the aspects of running a farm here in our community.

EIGHTH GRADE AWARDS
As our 8th graders prepared to move to the High School this fall, they held their 8th grade awards for a grand send-off! Student and staff speakers reminded them to set goals, work hard and to learn from their mistakes as they move through PTHS and beyond. Special awards were given out to students who showed exceptional kindness to their classmates, a Student Citizenship Award and a Teacher’ s Award of Excellence.
COLOR RUN DETAILS
Students at McMurray raised more than $ 2700 for the Highmark Caring Place during the Color Run in May. While they were having fun and getting very colorful … Highmark matched the funds for a total $ 5400 in memory of teacher Casey Doran.
The visit to Simmons Farm was hands on for second graders.
BEACH DAY FOR KINDERGARTEN
It might have been a chilly day, but that didn ' t stop kindergarten at Bower Hill from having a great Beach Day! Students found shells in the sand, made sandcastles, floated on the lazy river, fished and even played some corn hole! They were certainly ready for their summer break.
