ST. CLAIR HEALTH AND‘ A GLIMMER OF HOPE’ LAUNCH SCALP COOLING THERAPY PROGRAM
St. Clair Health has partnered with A Glimmer of Hope Foundation to offer portable scalp cooling therapy for breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy. This treatment, supported by a grant from the foundation and available at the St. Clair Hospital Cancer Center, helps reduce hair loss— a side effect that can affect patients’ emotional well-being.
Using Amma™ devices, the therapy cools the scalp to limit chemotherapy absorption by hair follicles, with patients experiencing up to 50 % less hair loss. The initiative aims to enhance dignity, self-confidence and quality of life during treatment— with financial support provided through the St. Clair Health Foundation for those not covered by insurance.
STEP INTO THE ICE AGE AT THE PITTSBURGH ZOO & AQUARIUM
The Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium is transporting guests back in time with its newest temporary exhibit,“ Ice Age: Frozen in Time,” on display through Sept. 1.
The immersive experience brings the frozen world of the Pleistocene epoch to life with more than 50 life-like animated creatures, including mammoths, sabertooth cats, woolly rhinos and dodo birds. Realistic sights, sounds and movements help recreate what life was like millions of years ago— right down to snorts, grunts and mammoth-size rumbles.
The 12-foot-tall animatronic mammoth serves as the exhibit’ s showstopper, but visitors of all ages will enjoy exploring how these prehistoric animals survived extreme conditions and how their evolution connects to modern wildlife and biodiversity.

GORDON HARDY SOARS TO NEW HEIGHTS
Congratulations to Gordon Hardy— a 2021 graduate of Peters Township— who continues to make his community proud. This May, Gordon earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Slippery Rock University and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army. He was slated to begin the next chapter of his journey at Fort Novosel, Alabama, where he has been accepted into Aviation School.
During his time at Slippery Rock, Gordon was a standout both academically and in extracurriculars— participating in the theater company and excelling as a member of the co-ed cheer team. This spring, the team made history by winning the program’ s first-ever national championship in Daytona, Florida.
From the stage to the sidelines and now into the skies, Gordon’ s drive and determination continue to inspire. Best of luck, Lieutenant Hardy— you’ re cleared for takeoff!
