INPERSON PETERS TOWNSHIP MIDDLE SCHOOL’S MARY COLLINS WINS MIDDLE LEVEL EDUCATOR AWARD BY NICOLE TAFE P eters Township has no shortage of prized teachers with many accolades to their names. This year, Peters Township Middle School teacher Mary Collins added to that list in winning the Middle Level Educator Award, sponsored by Allegheny Health Network and distributed by the Carnegie Science Center for inspiring students and staff to appreciate and apply STEM concepts. 36 724.942.0940 TO ADVERTISE ❘ Collins, 26, is native to the South Hills, having grown up in Upper St. Clair. In 2014, she graduated with a degree in Mathematics, certification in Secondary Mathematics Education, and a minor in Business from Grove City College. In the spring of 2017, she completed the graduate program at Johns Hopkins University, where she earned an M.S. in Technology for Educators. icmags.com She continued on to teach high school math at York Suburban High School for her first two years post-college, and then moved back to Pittsburgh to work for Peters Township. She will be starting her third year at Peters Township Middle School this fall.
