Cindy Speck and Friends Apr. 10, 2:30 – 3:15 p.m. Help us kick-off National Library Week by joining us in welcoming Ventriloquist Cindy Speck to the library. Cindy and her friends will entertain, educate and inspire all ages. Humorous dialogue, silly skits, touching songs and audience participation make each performance memorable and exciting. How to Think Like a Reporter Mondays and Thursdays, Apr. 18 – May 19 (10 sessions) 3:45 – 4:45 p.m. For students in 5th – 6th grades Limit: 18 Join PTHS junior, Angela Roberts, who is seeking her Girl Scouting Gold Award, for an introduction to journalism! Students participating will learn about journalistic writing, the different types of journalistic articles, how to conduct interviews and the importance of the news media in our society. The program will be assisted by student volunteers from the journalism class at the Peter Township High School. As part of the program, students will research a topic and receive one-onone guidance when preparing an article about their topic. All articles will be arranged in newspaper format and displayed in the library. Weigh your checked out books during National Library Week from Apr. 10 – 16 and receive a ticket for each pound of books for a chance to win a “Dive Aweigh” basket. Participate in the Dive Aweigh Guessing Game and try to guess how many pounds of books will be read without going over! On Your Mark, Get Set … Read! 2016 Children’s Summer Reading Program 8 weeks, June 27 – Aug. 19 Cost: $5, payable at registration Please register prior to the first day of program. Kick-Off and Sign-Up Party Saturday, June 11, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. End of Summer Sports Store Aug. 22 - 27 during library open hours Our Children’s “On Your Mark, Get Set … Read!” Summer Reading Program (SRP) runs for 8 fun-filled weeks from June 27 – Aug. 19. We’ll explore sports, games and movement through books, activities, science experiments, art projects and more. Every child, whether a sports fan or not, will find something to love about our program this year! We’ll have a kick-off and sign-up party on Saturday, June 11, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the library. Children can earn points during the SRP that can be redeemed for all kinds of sports treats at our End of Summer Sports Store during the week of Aug. 22 – 27.
