Czech version of the charming tale “ The Little Mermaid .” Though a bit different than the 1837 version , similarly the main character falls in love with a human prince . All of the beautifully sung dialogue is displayed in English subtitles above the stage . The words themselves are quite poetic , with title character Rusalka pleading , “ Tell him , silvery moon , that I am embracing him . For at least momentarily let him recall dreaming of me .”
This will be the first time that the Pittsburgh Opera has presented this work .
