Norwin Band Finishes Their Season with a Bronze Medal at the Bands of America Grand National Championship
The Norwin Marching Band completed their season on Nov . 16 at the Bands of America Grand National Championships at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis , IN . This is the premier marching event in the country and featured 113 marching bands from 18 states . Over three days of competition , the marching band advanced to the semi-finals round , and was named the Bronze medalist in Class AA . The band finished 22nd out of 113 bands overall .
In addition to two outstanding performances by the marching band and guard one of our students , Taylor Provence , was selected to receive the Music For All Foundation / Yamaha Scholarship .
Additional highlights from the season include :
• 2nd place finalist , and award for Outstanding Visual Performance , at the Bands of America Mid-Atlantic Regional held at the University of Delaware on Oct . 19 .
• 2nd place in Class AAAA , and award for Outstanding Visual Performance at the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Marching Band Association Championships held at Gateway High School on Oct . 26 .
• 1st Place Champion , at the Norwin Band Festival , Music For All Affiliate Marching Band Event , held at Norwin High School on Sept . 21 .

Honoring Our Veterans
At Veterans ’ Day programs last month , Norwin students and staff honored hundreds of veterans through music , speeches , and artwork . Norwin School District is truly grateful for the service of our Veterans .
At Stewartsville , students , teachers , and staff honored their veterans and active duty armed forces with patriotic songs performed by the students and a reading of a student-written poem . The JROTC Unit from Norwin High School gave a history of the armed forces presentation and “ Taps ” was performed by Norwin High School Band members .
Students , teachers , and staff at Hahntown Elementary honored over 80 veterans through a prepared reading and performance by 4th-grade students and concluded with the entire building singing “ America the Beautiful ”.

Sheridan Terrace honored veterans by providing breakfast to over 60 veterans in attendance . The morning included numerous patriotic songs and light breakfast . The halls and gymnasium were decorated in a sea of red , white , and blue .
Students at Sunset Valley had the opportunity to honor friends and family who served in the military during our Veterans Day Program . Over 70 Veterans were in attendance for the presentation and also joined in making a craft with their students .
Additional programs included a special choral performance during the Hillcrest Intermediate Veterans Day ceremony . The students , staff , and teachers at Norwin School District honor and thank those who have served and those who continue to serve to keep our country safe .
