TO NORWIN HIGH SCHOOL ON SUNDAY, DECEMBER 16, 2018
iver City Brass, America’s favorite brass band, will
present an extravaganza concert at Norwin School
District at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, December 16, 2018, at
the Norwin High School Auditorium.
The Norwin School District Community Foundation and
the Norwin Alumni and Friends Association are presenting
the concert, which is titled, “The Magic of Christmas!”
Founded in 1981 by the late Robert Bernat (conductor and
music director 1981-1994), the River City Brass was the first
professional concert band to be established in the United
States in over 25 years. Today, River City Brass performs a
35-concert series in Western Pennsylvania.
Often called the “Boston Pops - In Brass,” River City Brass
won the 2018 Readers’ Choice Gold Award for Family
Entertainment from Trib Total Media. The concert will include
traditional carols mixed with jazz and popular songs of the
season and will be fun for audiences of all ages.
Also joining the River City Brass will be the Norwin High
School Chamber Singers (directed by Mrs. Lauren Scheirer)
and the Bel Canto Women’s Choir and Show Choir (directed
by Mrs. Bridget Faulk), who will be combining to provide
vocal accompaniment during select pieces.
“This event will leave every audience member in the
greatest of spirits for the upcoming holiday season,” said
Dr. John Boylan, President of the Norwin School District
Community Foundation.
