Norwin Knights at PNC Park Thank You for Attending!

Earlier this spring, students from Hillcrest Intermediate had the opportunity to perform the National Anthem on the field at PNC Park before a Pittsburgh Pirates game. Performing in front of thousands of fans, the students proudly represented the Norwin community.

Adding to the special moment, members of the Norwin High School JROTC presented the colors on the field. The afternoon also featured an exciting opportunity for Norwin Baseball Team members, Matt O’ Neil and Zane Markovitz, who had the honor of throwing out the ceremonial first pitch before the game began. Thanks to the 850 Norwin families and community members who attended the game and helped make the afternoon such a success. We look forward to another great outing at the ballpark next year! orwin

Shine Like a Yoga Rockstar Brings Wellness to Sheridan Terrace
Thanks to a grant from the Highmark Foundation, Sheridan Terrace’ s secondgrade Rockstar Classrooms are introducing Shine Like a Yoga Rockstar, a new initiative designed to bring yoga, mindfulness, and movement into the school day.
Created by Mrs. Amanda Brunetto and Mrs. Karissa Arnold, the program will help students build physical strength, balance, flexibility, and coordination while also supporting emotional wellness and self-regulation. Through breathing exercises, stretching, and mindful movement, students will learn strategies to manage stress, improve focus, and navigate challenges both inside and outside the classroom.
The initiative also aims to create a positive impact throughout the school community. Plans include yoga stations in common areas to provide calming spaces for students and staff during transitions and breaks, helping promote a culture of wellness and mindfulness across the building.
In addition, teachers and staff will have opportunities to participate in free yoga sessions before and after school, encouraging stress relief, connection, and overall well-being among educators.
By incorporating yoga into daily routines, Shine Like a Yoga Rockstar hopes to foster healthier, more confident students while creating a calm, connected, and supportive learning environment at Sheridan Terrace.
Hahntown Fourth Graders Code Their Way Through STEM Mini Golf Challenge
Students in Mrs. Depew’ s fourth grade class at Hahntown recently put their creativity and problem-solving skills to the test in a hands-on STEM mini golf project led by Mr. Jared Shultz.
Working in small groups, students designed and built their own miniature golf courses, complete with ramps, obstacles, and imaginative course features. After construction was complete, they used iPads and coding software to program Sphero robots to act as“ golf balls,” navigating each custom-designed course.
Throughout the project, students collaborated closely, demonstrating teamwork, innovation, and persistence as they applied coding and engineering concepts in an engaging, real-world context.
