NORWIN STUDENTS CONTINUE TO RECEIVE VALUABLE EXPERIENCES THROUGH ‘ NORWIN WORKS !’ PROGRAM
Earlier this spring the Norwin Works ! Program hosted a breakfast for the businesses who host the program . Representatives from each work site attended and were treated to a breakfast that Norwin Works ! students and staff put together . A student from the program , created a year in review video highlighting different sites and the work students had done in each .
Norwin Works ! is a work-based learning program that serves students at the high school . Students work at host business sites where they learn skills for employment . Those businesses ’ host sites include Shop n Save , Gato Taco , Salvation Army , Refuge Church , Immaculate Conception , Beverly ’ s Birthdays , Busy Beaver , Arona Road Greenhouse , Westmoreland Museum of Art , Norwin Public Library , Making Strides , and the Norwin Teachers Federal Credit Union .
The program has been around for about seven years , and the Norwin Teachers FCU was the first site to partner with the program and welcome students into the bank to complete various tasks . The Norwin Teachers FCU continues to allow students to work at the bank , even after graduation . Students who have had the opportunity to work at the bank unanimously report that they love working with the friendly and supportive staff , and feel a sense of belonging as they work alongside bankers .
The Norwin Works ! program would like to thank the businesses and the district departments that make Norwin Works ! possible . The continued support and commitment to our students is making an impact that will remain with our students throughout their lifetime . We couldn ’ t be more proud to
work in partnership with the amazing Norwin Community .
Ian McCoy is employed at Norwin Teachers FCU . He likes to be called “ Mr . McCoy ” when he is at work .
Abby Langer is a student who works each week at Norwin Teachers FCU . She loves getting to dress up as much as she loves to count money at the bank .
