NORTH HUNTINGDON TOWNSHIP DONATES POLICE CAR to Norwin School District N orwin School District would like thank North Huntingdon Township for its recent donation of a 2014 Chevrolet Impala to be used as a vehicle for the Norwin School Police Officer. The School District also recognizes students at Central Westmoreland Career and Technology Center for their exceptional work to detail and service the donated car. School Police Officer Jeff Pritts began work in the new position in November 2018. Officer Pritts will use the vehicle to travel between the School District’s seven buildings, and also in the event of an emergency. Officer Pritts and local police departments maintain a collaborative working relationship that includes training, certification, and communication. 2019 NORWIN MUSIC EDUCATION PROGRAM RECEIVES NATIONAL RECOGNITION N orwin School District has been honored with the Best Communities for Music Education designation from The NAMM Foundation for its outstanding commitment to music education. To qualify for the Best Communities designation, Norwin School District answered detailed questions about funding, graduation requirements, music class participation, instruction time, facilities, support for the music programs. Responses were verified with school officials and reviewed by The Music Research Institute at the University of Kansas. “We are privileged to be part of a music program is alive, vibrant and populated with wonderfully talented, inspiring students,” said Mr. Michael Szymanski, Orchestra Director and Music Department Chairperson. “Our recognition by the NAMM Foundation is a testament to the culture of success that the Norwin community, in conjunction with the Board and Administration, has fostered over several generations.” Mr. Szymanski, on behalf of the Norwin Music Department, thanked the Norwin Board of Education, Administration, and Greater Norwin Community for continuing this tradition of music excellence.
