HIGH SCHOOL CEREMONY
Norwin School District graduated
students at a ceremony held Friday,
May 25, 2018 at Norwin Knights Stadium.
A
t commencement, the valedictorian and salutatorian,
along with all honor graduates, were recognized.
National Honor Society members were also visible
as they wore honor cords representing the service hours
they completed during their high school careers. Scores of
graduating seniors earned scholarships for their academic or
athletic excellence.

• Four-year college: 69 percent;
• Two-year community college, business, trade, or technical
school: 15 percent;
• Armed services: 4 percent;
• Enter the workforce: 7 percent

“Most Outstanding Seniors”: Carson Shipley and Magen
Polczynski. This is an annual honor decided by a majority
vote of the faculty with criteria being excellence in academics,
leadership, community involvement and citizenship.
Also, Vespers was held Wednesday, May 23, 2018 in the high
school auditorium. During this time of reflection, several seniors
shared inspirational messages and readings about graduation
and the future. Vespers speakers included Skylar Hayden,
Abby Pietrzyk, Joey Astrab, Emily Harrigan, Anthony Orsino,
Kaitlyn Kersting, and Katy Zapanta. Musical selections were
provided by the Vespers Choir.
At Commencement, friends and family of the graduates also
heard the Commencement speakers give their final farewells to
Norwin High School. The seniors speaking at Commencement
were Brandon Bodnar, Meghan Williamson, Mikhayla
Peshock, Dana Ewing, Carson Shipley, Mallory Page, and
Sophia Melocchi. These commencement speakers were chosen
for their eloquence, facial expression, articulation, posture, vocal
variety, and eye contact throughout an audition process.
The senior class advisor is teacher Ms. Lori Anselmino, assisted
by teacher Ms. Peggy Bryan.
