Outstanding Educators Eight Staff Members to Receive Annual Award from the Norwin Council of PTAs
Continuing its annual teacher recognition program , the Norwin Council of PTAs has announced the eight Outstanding Educator honorees for the 2023-2024 school year :

Victoria Dowling , Hillcrest Intermediate n Mrs . Lindsey Meyer & Mrs . Sam Fedorka , Stewartsville Elementary n Mrs . Kristin Ummer , Middle School
The annual award recognizes staff members who have made significant contributions to the education and enrichment of our students and school community . The honorees are chosen by nominations from their peers , students and parents .
These educators will be honored at the annual Founders ’ Day Dinner , scheduled for Thursday , April 25 , 2024 . According to Ms . Jenny Quaka , President of the Norwin Council of PTAs , the Founder ’ s Day Dinner celebrates the Outstanding Educators in the Norwin School District .
On behalf of the PTAs Ms . Quaka thanked each of the honorees for all that they do for the Norwin School District .
The Norwin PTAS appreciates the relationships they have built over the years with teachers .
Dr . Jeff Taylor , Superintendent , and Dr . Natalie McCracken , Assistant Superintendent , congratulated the teachers and thanked the Norwin Council of PTAs for its dedication and support of Norwin students and teachers .
“ These Norwin educators are very deserving of this honor ,” Dr . Taylor said . “ We are continually impressed by the professionalism , hard work , and dedication of all of our Norwin teachers to provide a high-quality education for our students .”
Norwin Certified School Nurse Receives Award of Excellence orwin

The Norwin School District is pleased to announce that Certified School Nurse Anita Miklos has been chosen as the Southwest Region School Nurse of Excellence by the Pennsylvania Association of School Nurses and Practitioners ( PASNAP ). Anita received her award at the annual conference in Hershey last month . In addition , along with the other regional winners , Anita will be in the running for the State award in 2025 .
“ This award is a testament to Anita ’ s dedication and commitment toward ensuring the health , welfare , and safety of students and staff of the Norwin School District ,” said Dr . Stacey Snyder , Director of Special Education & Student Services . “ Her recognition is a reminder of the profound impact one dedicated individual can have on a school district . We are proud to have Anita represent Norwin for this prestigious award .”

Anita has been a nurse in Norwin since 1999 , starting as a Health Room Aide and subsequently moving into the role of Certified School Nurse . Anita also serves as Health Services Curriculum Leader , trains new substitute nurses , coordinates nurse schedules , and serves on the SAP team in her buildings and the district Safe Schools Committee .
In addition to typical nursing duties , Anita helps coordinate the districtwide clothing drive and stocking caring closets in each of her buildings . Anita received the Outstanding Educator for Sheridan Terrace Elementary in 2022 , and the Robert C . Cormany Student Services Award of Excellence in 2023 at the annual Pennsylvania Association of Pupil Service Administrators convention .
Congratulations , Anita , for this award , and thank you for all you do to serve the children , families , and staff in the Norwin School District .
