NORWIN TEACHERS RECEIVE “ GETTING TO KNOW EUROPE ” GRANT
During the summer of 2022 , Larissa Sturm and Ciminy St . Clair were awarded the Getting to Know Europe grant from the EU Delegation to the U . S through the University of Pittsburgh ’ s European Studies Center and the U . S . Department of Education . Both teachers are educators at Norwin High School .
Ms . St . Clair and Mrs . Sturm attended a week-long study tour to Brussels , Belgium to learn about the European Union from Sunday , June 26th to Sunday , July 3rd , 2022 . The study tour provided the opportunity to gain first-hand knowledge and experiences to deepen the understanding of Europe and the European Union ( EU ) by visiting the European Commission where the award recipients learned about the EU ’ s response to the Russian War of Aggression against Ukraine . The two high school teachers also visited the European Parliament and Union Council . Additionally , they traveled to the House of European History , Parlamentarium , Permanent Representation of Sweden to the EU , EU Security and Foreign Policy , and European External Action Service .
For the first time , the visit included a trip to the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg for a guided tour which provided information on the Advocate General , multilingualism , and the work of an interpreter . The Court of Justice is similar to our Supreme Court here in the United States , but for the entire European Union .

NORWIN TEACHER HONORED
Bridget Faulk , Norwin Show Choir Director , has been named one of 22 Pittsburgh ChangeMakers by the nonprofit Multiplying Good , formerly known as the Jefferson Awards Foundation .
The ChangeMakers award is given to community leaders that believe in the importance of giving back and the power of volunteer leadership .
Bridget came to Norwin in 2011 and has continued the long-standing tradition of service learning and fundraising with the Norwin Show Choir . She was nominated for this award by one of her former students , who recognized Bridget for her continued dedication to community involvement .
“ I ’ m humbled and grateful to be recognized ,” Bridget shared . “ There are hundreds of students that I ’ ve worked with over the years , without which the award would not have been possible .”
This is an amazing recognition for a remarkable educator , who has touched the lives of many students and community members over the years .
Congratulations to Mrs . Faulk for this well-deserved honor .
NORWIN WRESTLING COACH LEADS U16 TEAM TO SECOND NATIONAL DUALS TITLE
Norwin ’ s wrestling coach , Kyle Martin recently led the U16 team to the national duals title at the USA Wrestling National Championships .
“.. It ’ s exhausting , frustrating but incredibly fun and rewarding to watch our athletes compete at optimal levels . We were able to beat some tough opponents . We finished with 16 All-Americans .”
Kyle was also selected to coach the U . S . World Team in Rome this past July .
