The Norwin School District is committed to enhancing its quality educational system, noting that our Board, Administration, Faculty, and Support Staff are fully committed to building on the tradition and many successes of our premier School District. The School District has an outstanding reputation for its educational programs and services, career and technical educational opportunities, hard-working students, talented and gifted teachers, caring and involved parents/ guardians, and a community that values education. Thanks to that commitment and dedication of the school community, our parents and families, and the greater Norwin community, the School District is strategically positioned to build a world-class education system. Consistent with the research by the National Center on Education and the Economy, the following strategies are shared for building a world-class education system: 1. Provide strong supports for children and their families before students arrive at school 2. Provide more resources for at-risk students 3. Develop world-class, highly coherent instructional systems 4. Create clear gateways for students through the system, set to global standards, with no dead ends 5. Assure an abundant supply of highly qualified teachers 6. 7. 8. 9. Redesign schools to be places in which teachers will be treated as professionals, with incentives and support to continuously improve their professional practice and the performance of their students Create an effective system of career and technical education and training Create a leadership development system that develops leaders at all levels to manage such systems effectively Institute a governance system that has the authority and legitimacy to develop coherent, powerful polices and is capable of implementing them at scale The Board of Education and Administration have a strong desire “to meet the challenges of a greatly changed global economy and swiftly evolving digital technologies” by making an already great School District an extraordinary School District. To that end, the School District has a priority goal and core belief that all students will have access and equity for K-12 educational programs and services through the collective efforts of the greater Norwin community. Please take time to visit the Norwin School District website at www.norwinsd.org and learn more about how “Norwin is moving forward from great to extraordinary!” – Respectfully, William H.
