Turkey Cup Challenge
Westmoreland Food Bank ’ s Turkey Cup Challenge is an annual , friendly competition to rally schools across Westmoreland County to raise donations to fund holiday meals for families in need . Fully supported by our PTO , this event provides our youngest students with a wonderful opportunity to engage in community service while making a real difference . Congratulations to Mrs . Kathy Deuel ' s 1st Grade class , which raised the most money at FRPS , and Mr . Braden Orange ' s 5th Grade class , which raised

the most money at FRIS . Together , our students raised a grand total $ 11,646 for this year ’ s Turkey Cup .
This is the 10th consecutive year FR Elementary campus has raised the most funds of the schools participating in the annual challenge ! ( Note : no official challenge occurred in 2020 or 2021 due to the pandemic .) Since the inception of the Turkey Cup Challenge in 2006 , Franklin Regional has contributed $ 215,710 to help combat local food insecurity .

Holiday Help Holiday Help , a collaborative effort led by Franklin Regional School District Counselors in partnership with local community organizations , provides assistance to families in need . Those with a child / children from birth up to grade 12 are eligible to participate and receive help with holiday gifts . Local families requested help for 164 children this year . With a projected budget of $ 150 per child , that made our goal $ 24,600 .
FRMS was a standout when it came to creative fundraising ideas . FRMS Student Council Penny Wars raised an impressive $ 1,225.53 . Pennies and any denomination of dollars increased each homeroom ’ s fundraising total . Players

could sabotage opposing classes by donating nickels , dimes , and quarters , which subtracted from a homeroom ’ s total . The combination of two small homerooms ( Ms . Leanne Lentz and Ms . Brittany Samples ) will celebrate their Penny Wars victory with a modest party . FRMS staff earned days they could wear jeans by donating cash or gift cards to the program . Jeans Days accounted for $ 2,210 toward the overall goal . In Barberry Court , the Yohe family invited students and parents to take up a collection . They raised $ 500 in their neighborhood and got another $ 350 donation from a local bank . When those results were combined with outright donations of cash and gift cards from
21st Annual FRHS Holiday Telethon
One of the most anticipated fundraisers each year is the High School Holiday Telethon . Broadcasting students host this performance-based event live on YouTube @ FRHSTVFranklinRegional from the High School lobby . Funds are raised through booths hosted by student clubs and groups , a basket raffle , and a highly creative and competitive door decorating contest . Over the past 20 years , the high school telethon has raised more than $ 168,000 in support of local charities .

students , parents , teachers , and many other generous partners and community members , organizers were dismayed to discover they were nearly $ 2,000 short of goal . With the help of several Secret Santas at deadline , Holiday Help made goal — proving once again that every gift matters and we can achieve amazing things when we work together .
Pay It Forward , Mini Thon , and NHS were Telethon partners this year , with all proceeds benefitting charities working to conquer childhood cancer . The Safety & Security Office won the door decorating contest , outshining 39 other participants , including a dozen doors decorated with the 12 Days of Christmas . At the end of the day , after a record high number of participants , the event raised more than $ 6,864.12 .
