Dear FR Community :
The Franklin Regional School community recently celebrated the creation of our new Franklin Regional Athletic Hall of Fame , which was formed with the intent to preserve the legacy of former Panther athletes .
The Franklin Regional School District ’ s mission statement is We , the Franklin Regional School community , strive for excellence , learning , achievement , and citizenship in all we do . This celebration represented the extraordinary accomplishments of the esteemed members of our inaugural Hall of Fame class . Our inaugural group , the Class of 2022 , included several standout athletes , our 1979 State Championship Girls ’ Basketball team , and two legendary coaches in a ceremony that marked the occasion ’ s significance . Their collective accolades include state championships , all-state honors , NCAA Championships , Olympic Trials , and success in professional sports . The day represented a rich tradition of excellence in athletics dating back decades and multiple generations .
Our tradition of excellence was on full display in various events planned throughout the day on September 2 , 2022 . A student pep rally allowed every student at the Senior High to see firsthand the “ giants ” on whose shoulders they stand in pursuit of athletic success . A formal inaugural induction ceremony allowed the community to learn more about the athletic and life successes of each candidate or team . They provided messages of inspiration to all and modeled through example the hard work and dedication necessary to achieve a dream . The day concluded with the recognition of our inductees before the football game that evening on the field at Panther Stadium .
Through the efforts of many and with the financial support of various sponsors , including Allegheny Health Network , Bowser Automotive , and Metz Culinary , our dream of establishing an Athletic Hall of Fame has come to fruition . Moving forward , a permanent Digital Hall of Fame will be installed in the Athletic Wing of Franklin Regional Senior High to keep our past athletes ’ accomplishments and memory alive .
It is with great pride that we celebrate the past , cheer on the present , and create possibilities for future generations of Franklin Regional students in athletics , academics , and the arts so they may one day return to their Panther home to serve as models of productive and successful citizenship while following their passions and dreams . It is my sincere honor and privilege to serve a community that deeply values its rich traditions .
Sincerely ,
Dr . Gennaro R . Piraino , Jr . Superintendent
