MURRYSVILLE
In this issue of IN-Murrysville, we are excited to showcase some
of the great things happening in the Franklin Regional School
District. For instance, this issue features an article on the successful
College in High School program. Through courses offered at
Franklin Regional Senior High, the College in High School program
has allowed FR students to earn over 2,000 credits from regional
colleges and universities! Since these courses are offered at a
fraction of the cost, this opportunity saved FR families over one
million dollars in comparison to the national average cost.
Also in this issue, you will meet Franklin Regional School District’s
new Director of Safety and Security. Mr. Tim Skoog will guide
Franklin Regional’s efforts to create a school police department. Mr.
Skoog’s wealth of knowledge and experience will be a tremendous
benefit as we continuously enhance our safety and security efforts.
In the non-profit arena, we are grateful for the Franklin Regional
Panther Foundation’s continued support of academics, arts, and
athletics across our School District. The Panther Foundation recently
awarded three more Innovation Grants that will support unique
and creative classroom programs at Heritage Elementary School,
Franklin Regional Middle School, and Franklin Regional Senior
High School. We are also pleased to showcase some of our talented
students in this issue, including our Biology Olympiad Bronze
Medalist and the 2018 Homecoming King and Queen.
Thank you for your continued support of the Franklin Regional
School District. On behalf of the Board of School Directors and
our entire staff, we look forward to working with students, parents,
and our community to continuously enhance our educational
programming and empower our students to become lifelong
learners and productive citizens. Truly, it is an exciting time to be
part of the Franklin Regional School District!
Yours in education,
Dr. Gennaro R. Piraino, Jr.
