FR Students Make PMEA Honors Band; PSBA Student Showcase
Franklin Regional Senior High School( FRSH) band students were honored to be selected for both the 2016 PASA-PSBA Student Showcase and the Pennsylvania Music Education Association’ s( PMEA) District I Honors Band.
Student Showcase FRSH Flute Quartet members Lauren DeLuca, Clare McCarthy, Julia Rostcheck, and Ami Shaw were selected to perform at the 2016 PASA-PSBA Student Showcase in Hershey, PA on October 13 at the Hershey Lodge and Convention Center. The Quartet was selected by audition to perform at the event.
PMEA Honors Band
This year, Lauren DeLuca( flute), Julia Rostcheck( flute), Alex Redling( clarinet), Ashley Li( clarinet), Nicole Lamagna( clarinet), Brian Cox( trumpet), Lydia Kline( tenor sax), and Spencer Phillips( horn) represented FRSH at the PMEA District 1 Honors Band. The Band is comprised of the top high school band students from a five-county area. The band performed a public concert in November at North Hills High School.

FRSH Science Teacher Nominated for Presidential Award
Franklin Regional Senior High School( FRSH) chemistry teacher, Mrs. Rebecca Connelly, was nominated for the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching( PAEMST).
The PAEMST are the highest honors bestowed by the United States government specifically for K-12 mathematics and science( including computer science) teaching. The award recognizes those teachers who develop and implement a high-quality instructional program that is informed by content knowledge and enhances student learning. Since the program’ s inception, more than 4,700 teachers have been recognized for their contributions in the classroom and to their profession.
Awards are given to mathematics and science( including computer science) teachers from each of the 50 states. Recipients of the award receive a certificate signed by the President of the United States, a paid trip to Washington, D. C. to attend a series of recognition events, as well as professional development opportunities, a $ 10,000 award from the National Science Foundation, and an opportunity to build lasting partnerships with colleagues across the nation. A committee will select State Finalists who will advance to the National competition where two winners will be selected.

FRSH Inducts 102 National Honor Society Students
Franklin Regional Senior High School( FRSH) inducted 102 students into the National Honor Society( NHS) during a ceremony on October 26, 2016. The purpose of this organization is to create enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote leadership, and to develop character in students of secondary schools. The Year in Review was presented by NHS President Caroline Taddonio with Attributes of NHS Membership and the NHS Pledge offered by this year’ s NHS Officers, Morgan Patrick, Secretary( Scholarship), Meghan Callahan, Treasurer( Service), Jacob Kuzy, Historian( Leadership), Jack Baker, Publicist( Character), and Adam Schwab, Vice President( Pledge). FRSH Principal Ron Suvak along with NHS Faculty Advisors Mrs. Rebecca Connelly and Mrs. Monica Bruno presented certificates of induction to the students during a candlelight ceremony.
