FRSH Senior Makes Singing Debut at Riverhounds Game
Savannah Simeone, a senior at Franklin Regional Senior High School( FRSH) and a member of the chorus, was honored to sing the National Anthem at Highmark Stadium, located in Pittsburgh’ s Station Square, prior to a Pittsburgh Riverhounds soccer game.
“ It was a night that I will never forget,” said Ms. Simeone.“ There was a good turnout within the crowd. The City of Pittsburgh was all lit up and it was just such a beautiful night to be able to sing. It was an honor singing at a great place like Highmark Stadium.”
Franklin Regional Marching Band Makes Debut in Inaugural Parade in Nation’ s Capital
The Franklin Regional Senior High School Marching Band, under the direction of Mr. Kevin Pollock and Mr. Larry Silvestri, made its first appearance in the 2017 Inaugural Parade in Washington, DC on January 20, 2017. The band submitted its application for consideration in the fall of 2016 and was notified of their selection in December. The FRSH Marching Band was one of only a handful of bands from across the nation selected for the honor to march down Pennsylvania Avenue on Inauguration Day. ranklin Regional FRANKLIN REGIONAL NEWS
FRMS Joins Other Schools for County Band Festival
The Westmoreland Junior High County Band Festival was conducted at Greater Latrobe High School on January 20-21, 2017. Students from 29 different schools were selected for this event. Participating from Franklin Regional Middle School( FRMS) were Amelia Aceves, Dom Colangelo, Trevor McLeigh, Jim Shyu, Evan Yan, Mary Cate McCarthy, and Amber Li. Faculty advisor for the event was Mr. Larry Silvestri.

FRSH Turns Garbage Bags Into High Fashion
Franklin Regional Senior High School( FRSH) students Tierney Smith, Baylee Miller, Alexis Meeker, Hannah Gaertner, Sarah Rowley, and Jordan Humes constructed fashions created from garbage bags. The unique designs were featured in“ A Night in Disguise: 15th Annual Garbage Bag Gala & Fashion Show” held at The Fairmont Hotel in Pittsburgh.
The students and their art teacher, Ms. Denielle DeSantis, were also featured on Pittsburgh Today( KDKA TV) on October 21st. The project helped the students learn about clothing construction, fashion design, creativity, and philanthropy.
Students worked on the clothing pieces, which included gowns, jackets, headpieces, and hats, after school every Thursday. The proceeds from the show benefited the Salvation Army’ s Family Caring Center.
