T
he Municipality welcomed
the Blue Spruce Shoppes with
the opening of Starbucks,
SportsClips, Subway, Sincerely
Yogurt, Moe’s, and the Goddard School.
This exciting new retail development has
something for everyone and is a welcome
addition to the community. Furthermore,
we look forward to the new stores and
restaurants scheduled to open in 2014.
In looking at other 2013
accomplishments for Murrysville that
affect the entire Municipality, the
Murrysville Community Library’s Children’s
area expansion project was completed, the
transition of Police dispatching services to
Westmoreland County 911 was successful,
and there are “no municipal tax increases,”
which is great news in these tough
economic times.
Other notable accomplishments in
Year 2013 include:
• The formation of the Murrysville-Export
Emergency Management Agency to
serve residents of both communities.
• Completion of the draft of the
Comprehensive Plan, which will be
presented to the public and Council in
Spring 2014.
• Acquisition of the Little Haymaker
Field to make a parking lot for
the Community Center. Began
construction at Murrysville Community
Park of three (3) Little League Fields
and a concession facility.
• Construction of Marquis Place
Apartments, located behind
Sheetz, including 118 apartments
and club house.
• New handicap-accessible decks at
Townsend Park.
• The paving and proper drainage of
Logan Ferry Road, which is now part
of the Municipality’s road system.
•
•
•
•
Establishment of a new wetland area
across Cline Hollow Road from the
Giant Eagle supermarket.
Installation of a new Observation
Blind at the wetlands in Murrysville
Community Park.
Over 17,000 tons of asphalt was laid
on Murrysville-maintained roads.
An outstanding 2013 Community
Day that hosted 3,500 guests for a
day of fun-filled family activities and
stunning fireworks in the evening.
The Municipality of Murrysville
is fortunate to have a professional,
dedicated staff and hundreds of
dedicated volunteers to serve the
community. We thank all the Murrysville
service organizations and churches that
continually provide for others. Without
their generous outpouring, many needs
would not be met.
Murrysville’s residents are known
for their volunteerism, so if you would
like to share your free time and talent,
there are many opportunities with the
Municipality’s Boards, Commissions, and
Committees and help is always needed
and appreciated with the parks. For more
