FR STUDENT NAMED NATIONAL PLAY

oey Sisk, a student at Franklin Regional Middle School, won
the Chevrolet’s National “Play Ball Reporter of the Year.” Judging
criteria for this award includes demonstrated knowledge of
and passion for baseball, an engaging on-camera presence, and
articulation. Mr. Sisk attended and covered four Pirate games
along with this year’s All Star Game. He also conducted 15 player
interviews, attended the International Media Day, the Home Run
Derby, and batting practice. Mr. Sisk was the only student reporter
permitted on the red carpet during the All Star game. A camera
crew accompanied Mr. Sisk on his baseball adventure, and he was
featured in a 30-second commercial that aired during the All Star
game. Francisco Cervelli, catcher for the Pittsburgh Pirates, is shown
posing with Mr. Sisk after autographing a baseball that the student
reporter managed to catch.
he Franklin Regional Panther Foundation
conducted its second annual Driving Excellence:
Golf Invitational on June 15, 2018 at Meadowink
Golf Course. This year the event sold out with
110 golfers participating. The day included a continental
breakfast, lunch in the café, and a steak dinner. Golfers also
had the chance to win several raffle baskets and contests.
Foundation President Charles Hergenroeder presented the
2018 Invitational Foursome Champions, Gary Bowser, Sr.,
Tom Tarquinio, John Tepper, and Harry Herlinger, with
engraved glass trophies. The winners are able to participate in
next year’s invitational free of charge. Other contest winners
included Stan Michalczy and Tom Shea (Closest to the Pin),
Nancy Anthony and Bret Young (Female/Male Long Drives),
and Jake Creps (Putting Skills). Contest winners won Visa
gift cards. This year, the Driving Excellence: Golf Invitational
netted $20,806 that will be used to support academic, art,
and athletic programs as well as Innovation Grants for the
students, teachers, and coaches at Franklin Regional.
