Certifi cation from the Joint
Commission for its excellence
in patient quality and care
of expecting mothers and
their newborns. It is the only
hospital in Allegheny County
with this recognition.
And, it is one of only two hospitals in the region to earn the
International Board of Lactation Consultants Care Award for
excellence and level of support for breastfeeding families.
“When most hospitals are closing their labor and delivery units,
Jeff erson decided it was important to keep this care in the
community for women and their families,” said Dr. David Logan,
medical director of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Dr. Logan helps

David Logan, MD, off ers comprehensive obstetrical
and gynecologic care to women and their babies. He is highly
skilled in robotic-assisted, minimally invasive surgery for
conditions like endometriosis.
“Robotic surgical systems let us extend our hand movements
into smaller, more precise movements,” Dr. Logan said.
Along with 3D-HD visualization, intuitive motion, and ergonomic
design, robotic-assistance systems are aiding surgeons in
cancer, gynecology, and other surgeries. These surgical
techniques off er patients less trauma, smaller incisions, shorter
hospital stays, and quicker recoveries.
“With all the resources we have at Jeff erson,” Dr. Logan said,
“there’s no reason any woman has to travel outside
the community to get all the obstetrical and
gynecologic care she needs.”
