esteemed poet, Dr. Samuel Hazo, the
founder and director of the International
Poetry Forum in Pittsburgh and
Pennsylvania’s first State Poet (1993‑2003).
Beading Workshop

Kathy Shomo, author of Anyone Can
Bead!, presents this fun-filled, easy class
in which she’ll teach basic design and
construction techniques for making
jewelry. With The Bead Lady’s help, you’ll
complete your choice of a beaded
bracelet or bookmark. All supplies

Recycling Event

Upper Lot behind the Library
Commonwealth Computer Recycling will
host a hard drive shredding and
electronics waste recycling event.
Vehicle
unloading
assistance will be
provided to all
visitors.
Accepted items
include
computer
equipment,
cellphones, small appliances, cameras,
calculators, typewriters, fax machines,
keyboards, computer peripherals, and
more. A full list of acceptable items—
including ones that require a fee to

events. A portion of the proceeds will
benefit Mt. Lebanon Public Library.
Card Making

Tired of paying $5 or more for a greeting
card? Kathy Shomo will show you how to
make lovely, one-of-a-kind cards using the
simplest of tools—scissors and a glue stick.
Aimed at ages 11 to adult. All supplies

A Smart Start to Social Security
12:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 6
Elaine Cole, a public affairs specialist from
the Social Security Administration, will
conduct this two-hour presentation on the
ins and outs of when and how to apply for
Social Security benefits. The session, which
includes a Q&A, will briefly touch on some
of the recent changes made to program
benefits that take effect in 2016.
Be Unique, Be You and Live!
7 p.m., Wednesday, April 13
David George, member of the Autism
Society’s Panel of People on the Spectrum
of Autism Advisors and author of Be Unique,
Be You and Live! — an autobiographical
account of his life with autism — will talk
about his life experiences in recognition of
Autism Awareness Month.
Advocacy for Women and Girls at the
United Nations
7 p.m., Tuesday, April 19
Erin Morey will talk about her work as a
two-time delegate to the United Nations
Commission on the Status of Women,
which aims to empower women and girls
all around the world.
Preparing Your House for Sale on a
Budget
7 p.m., Thursday, March 31
Keller Williams Realtor Cindy Rack and Beth
Agnoli of A & A Staging will discuss the
many things you can do with a little time,
effort and not a lot of money—both inside
and outside of your house—to help it sell
faster.

Celebrate Game of Thrones with
period-appropriate music, food,
wine, and mead. University
of Pittsburgh Professor Emily
Winerock will lead a medieval
dance lesson, the Knights of the
Classroom will display wearable
chain mail armor, and the Broken Plow Western Martial Arts & The Pittsburgh Sword
Fighters will present a live steel sword demonstration. For adults 21 and older. The $20
