MAKE A GINGERBREAD HOUSE 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 12 Children ages 3 and up and their families can build and decorate a gingerbread house and listen to stories. The library will supply the cartons and graham crackers; attendees should bring a can of icing and leftover Halloween candy to decorate their house. Registration starts November 12. FAMILY SING-ALONG 11 a.m., Friday, Nov. 29 Join music teacher Margaret Hooton and her brother Bob Barnett for the library’s annual fun and interactive day-after- Thanksgiving sing-along. Musical fun for the whole family. HOLIDAY FOR THE BIRDS 10 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 7 Preschoolers (ages 3 to 6) are invited to stop by the library and make a biodegradable bird feeder for their yard, listen to stories, and learn about local birds and wild animals with naturalist Verna McGinley. Encourages reading comprehension, story structure and love of literacy while casually discussing the book and sharing a craft or activity. Book selection will vary to encompass a wide variety of formats and subjects. It is a great way to strengthen young readers and foster (or create) a love of reading. CHESS CLUB 6:30 p.m., Wednesdays, Nov. 13, Dec. 11 Kids in K-7th grade will learn new moves and strategies and have fun playing with other kids.
