MOON PARK
PLAYGROUND GRAND
OPENING CELEBRATES
NEW STATE-OF-THE
ART CHILDREN’S
PLAY AREA
Moon Township Parks and
Recreation celebrated the new Moon
Park Playground with a ribbon cutting
ceremony on August 28 at Moon Park.
The project replaced all equipment
with modern design and equipment
concepts to provide positive experiences
that enhance children’s physical, mental
and social well-being. The playground
features a 2- to 5-year-old play area, a
5- to 12-year-old play area, an adventure
play area and an adult fitness area,
all joined by a barrier-free accessible
pathway. The Clearview Federal
Credit Union Splash Pad could be the
most popular amenity. This 10-year
partnership will provide years of fun for
children and families in the Moon area.
The project cost totaled over $1
million. The township received a
$250,000 grant from the Pennsylvania
Department of Conservation and Natural
Resources and a $200,000 grant from the
Gaming Economic Development Fund
(GEDF) through the Redevelopment
Authority of Allegheny County.
