Art in the Park
Springing into a
Summer of Art
Now that warm weather has arrived after a seemingly never-
ending battle with winter, a series of arts activities is on the agenda
for those searching for local cultural activities. Monroeville Arts
Council (MAC) has a perfect lineup in store to uplift and inspire
all ages throughout the community.
A variety of noted local artists present art workshops in the
Monroeville Public Library each spring and fall. On March 17,
Joseph Schildkamp impressed the participants with numerous
drawing activities and insights. The workshops are held at no
charge (only a $10 materials fee is assessed for non-members) and
are geared to enlighten all those attending, regardless of artistic
abilities or experience. A second workshop, “Secrets of Drawing
a Realistic Portrait,” presented by nationally known artist Lisa
Bane will be held on October 20. This will be a rare opportunity to
glean portrait drawing tips from an expert.
Once the summer weather is in full bloom, a free event is will
take place for children of all ages. Art in the Park will delight
children and parents on June 9, from 9:45 a.m. to
3 p.m., at Monroeville
Community Park’s
Pavilion #5 with a
wide variety of art,
craft and creative
activities. Offered by
teachers, librarians,
MAC volunteers and
those experienced in
child care, children will

A small but energetic group of MAC
volunteer members devote their energy

many and varied ways. Membership is
