Monroeville Arts Council Events
Watercolor, pastels, drawing and acrylic painting are just some of the seemingly endless means for artists and potential artists in the local area to express themselves, and Monroeville Arts Council steps up to the task by providing all of these and more in its programs to the public.
Noted local artists, including Karen Ferrick, Tom Niggel, Pam Price and Bob Bickers, have presented some of the recent Educational Outreach events in the Monroeville Public Library Program Room on Saturday afternoons throughout the year. Such opportunities continue with the support of UPMC East, community donors’ contributions and MAC members’ support.
The next offering is an Acrylic Landscape painting workshop led by Gigi Goldenson on Saturday, Mar. 25. A Zentangle offering by certified Zentangle teacher Jan Steinle will be held on Oct. 21. Each is scheduled from 2:30 to 4:30 p. m. Enrollment begins at the beginning of the month of each presentation and will not be taken earlier. These workshops are geared for those ages 18 years and older. A materials fee of $ 5 will be charged to the workshop participants who are not members of MAC. Additional enrollment details may be found at monroevilleartscouncil. org or on MAC’ s Facebook page.
Plans are currently underway for a crafting workshop on Apr. 29 at the library. Anyone interested in contributing to this creative endeavor by instructing, donating materials or participating in any way may call to leave a message with Nancy, MAC’ s workshop coordinator, at 412.373.0277.
To meet the artistic and creative needs of youngsters of the area, a free Kids’
Art in the Park, with support from Pat Catan’ s of Monroeville, is held yearly on the third Saturday of June at Monroeville Community Park West. This year’ s event will be on June 17, with activities available from 9:45 a. m. to 3 p. m., rain or shine.
A small but dedicated group of MAC volunteers strives to encourage artistic expression and provide creative outlets, including live bands at its July concerts, for community members of all ages. We are always open to new ideas and new supporters. Join with us to allow these activities to continue with positive ways to channel creative energies in 2017 and beyond!
