The survey also asked residents if the Planning Commission was on the right track with their five focus areas that will be used to improve the community through the Embrace Millcreek planning process. The results showed that over 80% of respondents either “agree” or “strongly agree” that each of the focus areas would help make the Millcreek community a better place to live. Although all five areas have the community’s support, two stand out with over 50% of respondents indicating that they “strongly agree”: Work to attract innovative businesses and advanced manufacturing and clean up and beautify our main streets. Community Comments In addition to the Township report card and rating the focus areas, many suggestions and ideas were shared with the hopes of making Millcreek even better. Over 500 suggestions were collected. The Planning Commission and Township Staff will review and evaluate each of those responses publishing a final community survey report in November, which will be available at www.millcreektownship.com/ EmbraceMillcreek . If you would like to be notified when the report is available or would like to be notified of Embrace Millcreek progress and updates, please email [email protected] and to be sure to be added to the mailing list. Next Steps Once the survey results and community comments have been evaluated, the Planning Commission will use the information collected to develop a “Request for Proposals” to publicly advertise for a planning consultant firm to work with the Planning Commission. The firm will provide technical expertise and the professional capacity that is necessary to develop the Embrace Millcreek Community Plan. The planning process will then officially kick off in January 2017. The Millcreek Township Supervisors want to thank everyone who took time to complete the survey and look forward working together to Embrace Millcreek. Millcreek | Winter 2016 | icmags.com 19
