BE AN INFORMED RESIDENT
On November 5, 2024, an overwhelming majority of Millcreek voters elected a seven-member Government Study Commission to study the existing form of government of Millcreek Township and compare it with optional forms of government available to serve Millcreek residents.
These Commission members share with the residents years of experience from careers in Finance, Auditing, Insurance, Business Ownership, Business and Non-Profit Management, Engineering, Healthcare, Real Estate, Government, Education, Utility Administration, Manufacturing, Retail, Computer Technology, and Customer Service.
Working as volunteers on behalf of all Millcreek residents, and guided by professionals from the Allegheny League of Municipalities, they have spent hundreds of hours over the past 5 months researching all forms of government available to Millcreek Township, studying the operations of other large townships, and performing financial analyses. One focus of the study is to examine the fact that of the 25 most populated second-class townships, Millcreek ranks second in number of residents, and it is the only one of those large townships with the type of government under which it operates.
The Commission’ s goal is to determine whether Millcreek’ s form of government( implemented in 1803) meets the fast-changing requirements of a 21st century township, or, if a different form may better meet the needs and concerns of the residents, while providing more efficiency and transparency.
The Commission will continue their research over the coming months after which they will publish the study results, conduct public meetings to explain them, and obtain input from the residents. All meetings are open to the public; residents are encouraged to attend or view them on YouTube.
