FEBRUARY - By unanimous vote , the Millcreek Township Supervisors appointed nationally recognized economic development specialist Laith Wardi to fill the opening on the Millcreek Township General Authority ( MTGA ) board . Wardi is a Millcreek Township resident and the President and Founder of ExecutivePulse , Inc . an Erie County-based business .

MARCH / APRIL - The Millcreek Township General Authority began demolition on several of the properties on Mar . 25 , 2024 . The demolished properties include the former Manor Motel , the back strip ( motel portion ) of the former Bel-Air Hotel , the former Joe Roots and the former Sandbar . The Erie County Land Bank is funding the demolition work . illcreek

The next steps are making the sites attractive for potential developers and engaging those new businesses . The sites have generated interest from potential tenants , and the Authority is gathering information to include them in future development planning . Laith Wardi has many years of experience across the nation in economic development and his appointment to the MTGA Board will be valuable in this process .
Upcoming steps include requesting qualifications and proposals from developers and beginning design and engineering work . Throughout the process , there will be additional public feedback opportunities regarding the district ' s design elements . The acquisition of these sites by the General Authority allows residents the additional opportunity to provide their thoughts on the design , character , and amenities to be incorporated into the site . Once a final design is completed , construction can begin and the exciting work of attracting businesses to a modern Presque Isle Gateway District can take shape . Contd .
