Façade Renovations along Millcreek Corridors
Before Renovations
We ’ ve all seen it happen , especially in our neighborhoods , someone makes an improvement to their home or freshens up their landscaping and the next thing you know , you ’ re doing it too . Renovation- fever catches on quickly within a community and not only makes yourself feel better , but your neighbors as well . Craig Schaal , President of Schaal Glass Co . 2303 West 12th St ., referenced the recent upgrades at the neighboring Big Lots and West Erie Plazas . “ It had been 40 years since our last update here ,” Schaal stated . “ Using contemporary styling greatly enhanced the curb appeal .”
A building ’ s facade can have a big impact on a community like Millcreek . An Environmental Protection Agency study found that a successful tactic for economic development / revitalization is to identify and build on existing assets in the
community , like our plazas . The installation of a new façade or storefront entrance can go a long way in enhancing a buildings image , taking the tenant and customer experience from drab to something much more inviting . This could potentially lead to more shoppers and a larger workforce . Not only does a building renovation look better , but it is vastly simpler and economical to do than to tear down and rebuild . Additionally , these projects can be completed in as little as two months .
Ideally , we want the corridors into our community looking their best . As locals , we might not notice the area that we drive through every day , but what about the thousands of people that visit our community every year ? They say you only have one opportunity to make a good first impression , so what do you want their first impression to be ?
