Millcreek’ s Community Center: Building the Foundation for What Comes Next

The vision for a Millcreek Community Center continues to move forward as the Township works through the next planned phase of the project.
Following the Township’ s acquisition of the Shrine Club property, the project has transitioned into a period focused on planning and coordination. While there is not yet visible construction activity on the site, this phase is an expected and necessary part of the process to ensure the future community center is thoughtfully designed, financially responsible, and reflective of the needs and priorities of Millcreek residents.
Over the past several months, Township staff and consultants have been reviewing findings from previously completed feasibility studies, property assessments, and public engagement sessions. This work helps guide decisions about how the site can best be used, what types of spaces are most needed, and how the facility can serve residents of all ages and interests— both now and in the future.
As the project moves toward the design phase, the Township is also considering opportunities for partnerships and collaboration. Community centers are most successful when they reflect the character and needs of the community they serve, and potential partnerships with local organizations and program providers may help shape future uses of the space.
Community input remains central to the project’ s success. Feedback shared during earlier engagement sessions continues to inform planning discussions, and residents will have additional opportunities to review concepts and provide input as design ideas begin to take shape.
Our focus right now is on moving through the planning process carefully and intentionally, so that when we advance to design and construction, we are creating a space that truly reflects Millcreek and serves our community well.

“ We know there is excitement and anticipation around the Community Center,” said Ashley Esper, Director of Parks and Recreation.“ Our focus right now is on moving through the planning process carefully and intentionally, so that when we advance to design and construction, we are creating a space that truly reflects Millcreek and serves our community well.”
The Township will continue to share updates through public meetings, future issues of InMillcreek Magazine, and online at millcreektownship. com / communitycenter.
Each step— whether planning, design, or construction— brings Millcreek closer to a welcoming, inclusive gathering place designed for connection, recreation, and community life.
