A GARDEN COLLABORATION
The Presque Isle Garden Club maintains a garden at the Veterans Park at the corner of Zimmerly and Love roads . Members display a wreath in the summer and one in the winter to honor our military members . However , the stand would frequently fall over , so the club reached out to the Erie County Technical School for help .
Club members provided several ideas of what they were looking for in a new wreath stand . The stand was constructed and painted by the teacher and students of the school with beautiful results ! The new stand has not fallen once , despite winds and snowy weather .
This collaboration in the community will help to honor our veterans for many years to come .
MAKING HISTORY !
There are big things going on at the Hagen History Center ( HHC )! In May and July , the HHC will be working with
Wild Sonshine Factory to plant , harvest and distill sunflower seeds from its Girard Farms into distilled spirits . This should be an interesting process to follow !
The “ Welcome ” area and Frank Lloyd Wright exhibit will be displaying neverbefore-seen artifacts , which will draw Frank Lloyd Wright enthusiasts from across the country .
HHC will be celebrating 100 years of the Erie Zoo with a new exhibit highlighting memories of this beloved Erie attraction .
“ Triggering History : Legacy of Erie Firearms ” will highlight several firearms from various historical periods , including pre-Civil War items that have special historical significance to the Erie area . Rifles made by Erie gunsmiths , muskets from the War of 1812 era , and archaeological finds from the site of Fort Presque Isle will be featured .
