2024 Marks Significant Infrastructure Investment in Millcreek Township
The Erie Water Works broke ground on a $ 5,000,000 project to replace the booster pump station located south of West 38th Street along Asbury Road . The existing station is adjacent to two water tanks visible from the road , which store 1 and 1.5 million gallons of water to help sustain pressure and enhance supply during emergencies or power outages in western Millcreek Township .
A new , higher capacity pump station is being constructed onsite and is expected to be commissioned in 2025 . The current station is undersized to meet growing needs and equipment is nearing the end of its useful life . The new facility includes several key features designed to enhance service and reliability : advanced disinfection capabilities to ensure consistent , high-quality water , an onsite emergency generator to help maintain an uninterrupted water supply during power outages , and enhanced fire-protection to better serve the residents and businesses located in southwestern Millcreek Township .
