Letter from the Supervisors
As we inch closer to spring, the pace of activity in the Township tends to increase. There’ s a lot going on and this issue of In Millcreek gives you a glimpse of some of it.
In the pages that follow, you’ ll meet the Sydney Stitt, the McDowell student serving as an“ ambassador” to the Board of Supervisors. You’ ll also meet some new township employees and say good-bye to several retirees. There are bunches of public service programs lined up for the coming months, from income tax preparation to driver safety and property tax / rent rebate help. LECOM Health and Lifeworks Erie will again be offering programs at the Municipal Building. Our Recycling Department has a lot of news, including schedules for the Compost and Recycling Center and special collection days. Don’ t miss the articles about one of the township’ s volunteer fire fighters, Emergency Management, changes to your cable TV and what makes Millcreek’ s Government Channel tick.
So … enjoy all that this In Millcreek has to offer and remember that it won’ t be long before the sun gets higher in the sky and we start to see the crocuses and daffodils popping up.
Brian McGrath, John Groh, & John Morgan
Millcreek Township Student Ambassador
Sydney Stitt is currently a Senior at McDowell High School. She participates in Varsity Tennis and Swimming. She is a member of the Speech and Debate Club, Model United Nations, Robotics and the National Honor Society, in which she serves as President.
This year, the McDowell Senior was chosen to serve as Student Ambassador for Millcreek Township. During each Supervisors’ Meeting, Sydney was given the chance to comment on agenda items and learn about various Millcreek initiatives such as the new“ Embrace Millcreek” which is a plan to beautify the Township. She also was able to report current activities going on at McDowell. Through her eyes, classmates and teachers had the chance to find out what was going on in the Township, and meeting attendees could learn about what was happening at the High School.
This position created unique opportunities for Sydney. Recently Governor Tom Wolf visited Erie to discuss issues, projects, and areas where the State may be able to provide assistance. Sydney participated in a meeting with the Governor and gave insight to exciting projects that were happening in the Erie area.
Sydney’ s term as Student Ambassador will
Sydney Stitt with Supervisors Brian McGrath, John Groh, & John Morgan end when she graduates from McDowell this upcoming spring. Future McDowell Seniors interested in participating in this role should contact Crystal

Means. Student requirements are good grades as well as an interest in public speaking and government.
