MILLCREEK COMMUNITY CENTER

FAQS

WHY IS MILLCREEK TOWNSHIP CONSIDERING THE PURCHASE OF THIS BUILDING?
The Township is exploring the purchase of a 40,000 square foot building on 42.6 acres adjacent to Zuck Park to create a modern community center. This location provides a central, accessible space for expanded Parks and Recreation programming and large-scale community events.
WHY DO WE NEED A COMMUNITY CENTER?
This effort is in line with the Parks and Recreation strategic plan. The strategic plan process brought Millcreek residents together to create a vision for our future, a vibrant community with Parks & Recreation at the center of our collective experience. Since the completion of the Parks and Recreation strategic plan, the Township has been analyzing its current capacity to serve residents, and acknowledges that residents deserve more.
According to preliminary findings of a market report provided by Ballard King, communities of Millcreek’ s size typically own and operate a range of public facilities including community and recreation centers. Studies show residents support investment in the services provided by these facilities when they are offered.
The strategic plan recognizes that a larger and more accessible space will help to elevate the livability of Millcreek Township. Millcreek needs a building such as the proposed community center to scale Parks and Recreation services to serve the current population at the level they would expect. This community center will further enhance Millcreek Township’ s reputation as one of the most desirable places to call home in Pennsylvania.
WHAT ABOUT ONGOING COST?
The Shrine Club would remain a tenant through 2026 under a triple net lease, covering all operational fees. After this initial phase, a long-term operational plan includes sustainable revenue from rentals, programs, and partnerships.
