Dear McKeesport Area School
District Families and Friends:
Welcome back to the 2019-
2020 school year! It is with great
excitement that we continue
on the third year of our journey
together experiencing the
teaching and learning process
in the McKeesport Area School
District. I hope everyone
enjoyed a relaxing summer and
spent quality time with their
families.
I look forward to continuing
Dr. Mark P. Holtzman
my frequent classroom visits
Superintendent
and being an active member
of the five McKeesport Area School District communities. I will
continue to challenge all our educators to improve the quality
of our programs and create a productive overall school culture
by delivering best practice instruction. The district’s leadership
has done an excellent job assembling and reorganizing
administrative teams that will support our staff and students and
ensure each student receives a first-class educational experience.
As many of you visit our schools and attend events, please
stop and introduce yourself. I always look forward to meeting
new people and continuing many of my life long relationships in
our communities. We ALL have to work together to make MASD
a safe and dynamic educational opportunity for our students.
Lastly, I would like to thank our determined and hardworking
team of educators that engage the children of the MASD day
after day. I am proud to say we are looking forward to piloting
a one to one device initiative and expanding the educational
experiences for all of our students.
Sincerely,
Dr. Mark P. Holtzman
Superintendent
Class of ‘97
MASD Family,
We are proud of the
excellent start of the school
year. This school year is
kicking off several new and
exciting initiatives. The
administration’s five year plan
is heading into year three
which will bring about year
two of the one-to-one device
program, in our third grade
classrooms. Increased safety
plans are continuing to be at
the forefront of our planning
Joe Lopretto
and implementation across
President, McKeesport Area
the District. There is a new
School District Board of Directors
process for registration and
enrollment into our District which allows for a faster and more
seamless transition. For more information on the enrollment
process, call our Registrar at 412-664-3700.
As always, one of the biggest factors in the overall success
of our students and our district is our ability to work in
partnership with our parents and the community. We hope
that you feel welcome in our schools and that you will take
advantage of opportunities to become involved, to learn
more about your school district and to be a part of the many
things that are taking place. Be sure to follow us on our social
media pages for information and stories regarding what we
have going on day to day.
Members of the school board of directors encourage
parents and guardians to be actively involved, in all areas if
the district, by attending board and building level meetings.
Board Meetings are typically held on the fourth Wednesday of
every month. Sessions begin at 7:30 p.m. in the board room
at the district administration building, located at 3590 O’Neil
Boulevard in McKeesport. Check our website, mckasd.net, for
accurate meeting information.
On behalf of the board, I hope you are having
a great start to the school year!
Sincerely,
Joseph Lopretto
President, McKeesport Area School
District Board of Directors
