IN McKeesport Area Winter 2025 | Page 35

Dear McKeesport Area Staff, Parents / Guardians, and Community Members,
As we move through the 2025 – 2026 school year, it continues to be my great pleasure to serve the McKeesport Area School District. Our administrative team remains committed to doing everything we can to ensure that this school year progresses as smoothly as possible. By now, you have seen both new and familiar faces in our elementary and secondary classrooms throughout our school buildings. Earlier this year, the District welcomed a new Assistant to the Superintendent, Dr. Amy Dellapenna, and a new elementary principal at Twin Rivers, Mrs. Sade Johnson, along with several additions to our administrative and professional teams across the district.
Reaching this point in the year gives us an opportunity to reflect, adjust, and continue building upon the plans, strategies, and ideas we put in place at the start. We take pride in preparing lessons and activities that meet the needs of our students— each group bringing its own strengths, challenges, and enthusiasm. As the year continues, we must remain open to the changes and growth that naturally occur as we work toward our goals.

As we review our PSSA and Keystone results, it is clear that academic improvements remain essential in grades 3 through 8, and our efforts must also extend through grades 9 to 11. We cannot afford to lose momentum. We must continue the upward trends we have begun and strengthen our curriculum and professional development initiatives. Whether one’ s responsibility is administrating, supervising, teaching, preparing lunches, maintaining a building, or managing an office, there is always room to grow and new ways to turn strong performances into even stronger outcomes.
This year, we remain focused on the expectations and vision we hold for the McKeesport Area School District. Our greatest goals continue to be improving academic achievement, preparing students for the 21st Century Workforce and postsecondary education, making meaningful connections with our students, and keeping parents informed and involved through consistent communication. We look forward to a rewarding remainder of the school year and hope that you are mentally and physically prepared for the challenges and opportunities ahead.
We will continue to look toward future achievements. Take care and enjoy.
Sincerely,
Donald L. MacFann Superintendent
